Rihanna is amongst the stars being considered to play the lead role in an upcoming Whitney Houston biopic, reports the Daily Mail .
The film is backed by Clive Davis, a close friend of Whitney and the boss of her recording label.
Jennifer Hudson, 30, who paid a stirring tribute to Houston at the 2012 Grammy Awards on February 12 with a sweet and heartfelt rendition of "I Will Always Love You," is another contender.
Others being considered include Vivica Fox, 47, and Jordin Sparks, 22.
Will Smith's daughter Willow, 11, is being considered to play Houston as a child.
Davis is reportedly keen to start filming soon and is pushing for the script to be finalized.
According to the Daily Mail, those behind the movie are keen to sign up Rihanna but the 24-year-old Barbadian singer's participation in the project is not a given as last year she turned down the lead role in a remake of Bodyguard.
Rihanna told OK! magazine then, "I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won't be a stretch for me."
