Celeb New Year's Resolutions: Shaved Heads For Charity, Tattoos

'I make resolutions every five minutes and then I never stick to them,' Florence Welch admits.

Can you hear that? It's the final hours of 2011 winding down, getting ready for a bright and shiny 2012. And what better way to welcome the new year than with another round of celebrity New Year's resolutions?

MTV News recently sought out a few of our favorite movers and shakers, including Mac Miller, Florence Welch and the boys of Blink-182, to see what they're resolving to achieve next year.

"I make resolutions every five minutes and then I never stick to them," Welch admitted.

"My New Year's resolution is to be more patient and observant," said 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC nominee Roscoe Dash. "I feel like if you're patient, you're going to be more observant anyway because you've got nothing but time on your hands."

"[I resolve] to have more fun, gain some weight and I want to make a difference in the world. I'm shaving my head next year for charity," 2011 VMA House Artist Jessie J revealed. "I just want to bring more good [to the world]."

Fellow Hottest Breakthrough MC nominee French Montana vowed to keep on keepin' on. "Definitely not to change," he said of his resoluti! on. "Eve rything I've been doing has been working so far, so definitely not to change."

"My New Year's resolution is to be healthier in every aspect of my life," Mac Miller said with a smile.

We're impressed by all the warm and fuzzy do-good-esque commitments, but Tom Delonge of Blink 182 gets special commendation for his specificity and honesty.

"I want to get another tattoo," Delonge announced. "But I need to exercise before I get it because I want to be able to show it off and look really awesome. It's mostly on my genital area," he joked. "No, no, I want to do a back piece."

"Travis, do you have a New Year's resolution?" Blink 182 frontman Mark Hoppus asked his bandmate Travis Barker. "I'm down with Tom's," Barker said, prompting Hoppus to also throw his support behind Delonge.

"Our New Year's resolution is for Tom to get a back piece," he said.

Before making those resolutions a reality, many celebrities will be out and about on New Year's Eve looking to break loose at a number of big New Year's parties. And MTV will also be getting in on the fun during "NYE in NYC 2012," which will feature Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Mac Miller and more. The show airs live at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday from Times Square, where the famous ball drops.

As the last few hours of this glorious, Adele-ified year disappear, MTV News is turning its attention to the next 12 months, which promise to be full of big-time blockbuster films ("Avengers," "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Hunger Games") and even bigger-time celebrity events (Beyonc and Jay-Z's baby, Britney's betrothal, Robert Pattinson doing something) oh yeah, and there's also going to be a presidential election and the London Olympics and, potentially, the end of the world as we know it. So, basically, 2012 is totally going to smoke 2011.

But with so much to look forward to, what will be the event of the year? Well, we decided to take to the streets of New York's Times Square, where the big shiny ball will drop at the stroke of midnight, to find out what's topping your New Year's wish list.

"I'm most looking forward to hopefully seeing a Nicki Minaj tour," Adya Goswami said.

Alison Grant added, "My favorite is Lil Wayne, so I hope he puts something out again."

Of course, while we got plenty of folks clamoring for new music, we heard from even more who couldn't wait to check out the year's biggest movies and from the sound of things, 2012 might very well be the year of the bat.! Or the vampire.

"The new Batman movie coming out should be an awesome movie," Nick Stuart said.

Haley Race shared, "I'm really excited for the next 'Twilight' movie. I'm really a big fan. I've read the books like 40 times, each of them!"

And while "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" seem like sure bets, there are some New Year's wishes that may not come true in 2012. After all, you can't get everything you want.

" 'How to Make it in America': If that show gets put back on the air, that would be great," Steve Borrebach said.

Brock Lesnar Retires From UFC After Loss to Alistair Overeem

Brock Lesnar went down hard against kickboxer Alistair Overeem in the first round at UFC 141 last night. A few minutes later, he announced his retirement.

The former heavyweight champion finished his own meteoric mixed martial arts career on a losing note at Friday's Ultimate Fighting Championship event.

Lesnar retired from the UFC after Overeem stopped him with one vicious kick to the body at 2:26 of the first round in their much-touted heavyweight bout.

"Tonight is the last time you'll see me in the octagon," Lesnar said.

That leaves the UFC heading into 2012 without its biggest star.

Brock Lesnar Retires

Even though he fought only seven times in the UFC, Lesnar was a pay-per-view audience magnet because of his compelling past as a WWE "champion."

He reigned as heavyweight champ, headlined UFC 100, generated the most Internet traffic of any MMA fighter and actually has fights left on his contract.

UFC President Dana White and Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta took the high road with Lesnar even after the fighter blew off the post-fight news conference.

White said, "When a guy decides he wants to retire, you let him do it. This is not, 'Go hit a ball with a stick for the next two or three years on your way out.'"

"This is the real deal, guys. We'll figure it out." He said regardless of how many fights Lesnar has on his contract, "Doesn't matter. If he's done, he's done."

Russell Brand for Divorce from Katy Perry

Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry at the Superior Court in Los Angeles on Friday, December 30, citing "irreconcilable differences."

In a statement released to the press Brand said, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

The divorce documents do not list a date of separation and state the couple has "community property assets."

It's not known if the couple has a pre-nuptial.

Brand proposed to Katy in India on December 31, 2009 after dating her for four months.

The couple returned to the country for a lavish wedding on October 23 at the Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary in North Rajasthan.

Katy and Russell spent Christmas apart intensifying speculation about the status of their marriage.

Brand, 36, spent Christmas Day with friends in a Cornwall, while Katy, 27, spent the day soaking up the sun and frolicking on a beach with friends in faraway Hawaii, sans her wedding band.

The two arrived together in Kauai before the Christmas weekend "looking very happy," but then had a massive row according to Us Weekly, prompting Russell to take off.

"They had a massive fight. She was like, 'F*** you. I'm going to do my own thing," as source tells the magazine.

"Fine, f*** you too," said Russel and jetted off 7,000 mile to Cornwall.

Brand was spotted in London on Thursday and Friday without his wedding band.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this month, when quizzed on the break up rumors, Brand joked "What?! She should have told me!"

He added: "I've ! treated the whole internet now as a wicked little liar. I am really happily married."

Katy similarly dismissed speculation about her marriage over Twitter:

"Just cause we don't flaunt our relationship doesn't mean there's something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury," she wrote.

Twitter was a buzz with the singer giving birth to Tiana-May Carter ob Dec 30.

The rumour began when she apparently (again) checked in to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

No official announcement has been made

Beyonc told the world she was preggers on the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

It will be the first child for her and husband Jay-Z.

Debra Messing New Boyfriend

The inside story of the new NBC series Smash! is going to be pretty smashing in its own right!

Debra Messing announced that she was going to leave her husband Daniel Zelman upsetting the 10-year-long marriage a week and a half ago because she had fallen in love with a costar! An inside source assured PEOPLE that Messing, 43, and another Smash! actor, Will Chase, 41, have been dating since November.

The source added that the affair had developed very quickly and placed both of them in an uncomfortable situation. Messings rep was not to be found.

Messing has one son with her now-estranged husband, Roman, 7. Chase is married to Broadway actress Stephanie Gibson whom he is divorcing after a long separation, according to his rep. He has no kids with Gibson but daughters Daisy and Gracie by his first wife.

Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly: Seeing Sights, Each Other in Paris

For Derek Jeter, this is one double play we're guessing he doesn't mind hitting into.

All indications point to the Yankees superstar rekindling his romance with actress Minka Kelly, as witnesses tell Life & Style the pair are spending the holidays together in Paris. They were spotted at the Muse d'Orsay yesterday.

"They had a guide taking them around on the fifth floor, and they were looking at Monet and the works of other French impressionists," a source tells the tabloid "They went to all the different floors; they looked at Van Gogh. Derek was very low-key and was wearing a black-and-gray sweater. Minka looked very pretty. She was wearing white jeans, a brown jacket and boots."

Jeter and Kelly split in August due to their demanding schedules, but since then the latter's remake of Charlie's Angels has been canceled, giving her ample time to go deep into the hole with the iconic shortstop... if you know what we mean!

Katy Perry and Russell Brand: It's Over!!

The Internet may be a "wicked little liar," to use Russell Brand's words, a great deal of the time. But apparently not in this sad case. He's divorcing Katy Perry.

Just 24 hours after Russell was spotted sans wedding ring in London, with Katy 7,000 miles away with friends in Hawaii, the actor filed the papers this afternoon.

Brand personally confirmed the news, saying in a statement: "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

Brand cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split in the official divorce documents, filed in Los Angeles Friday. The couple married October 23, 2010.

The documents list "community property assets," which may indicate a lack of prenup, or one that does not account for all their earnings and other assets.

The news is surprising and yet not, given recent reports that the couple had been having problems and spending time apart, possibly following a massive fight.

He does not list a date the couple separated,! but TMZ reports that Russell Brand may have blindsided Katy Perry by filing the divorce petition. Stay tuned.

Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga Step Out, Go Public

Lady Gaga's officially going public with boyfriend Taylor Kinney.

With a series of just-released photos in which she makes no attempt to hide her affection, the 25-year-old is finally acknowledging what we've known for months: She and The Vampire Diaries' Taylor Kinney are an item, and a cute one at that.

Sources say they're taking it slow, but definitely going strong.

Gaga, who first met Kinney on the set of her "You and I" music video (below) when he starred as her love interest and makeout partner, casually slung her arm over her boyfriend's shoulder as they strolled along a California beach.

While the pair appear cozy and are getting along fabulously, a source close to Gaga insists they're not super serious - mostly because of the strains of her career.

"They're hooking up and getting to know each other," explains the insider. "Gaga can't be too committed because she works 24/7. But she thinks he's the best!"

Jeremy London to Be Charged in Wife Attack

Troubled actor Jeremy London will be charged with domestic violence following an alleged attack on his spouse in Palm Springs last month, reports say.

Area cops were on the lookout for London to question him about the fight, during which Jeremy allegedly injured estranged wife Melissa Cunningham.

The ex-couple was fighting over custody of their son, when London flew off the handle, then took off. He's communicated with police via his lawyers.

The Riverside County D.A.'s office has made a decision to charge London with misdemeanor domestic violence. If convicted, he may face a year in jail.

A rep for Jeremy said, "The allegation is false and no such abuse occurred."

"It is unfortunate that the Riverside DA's Office has elected to reward Melissa's malicious behaviour and disregard the facts regarding the incident."
